So the London 2012 Olympic games are upon us and I for one am behind it all the way.
As Mark Cavendish is taking on the Road Race today I thought I’d share my families cycling story.
My Dad was a very keen cyclist back in the day and many a time he would tell me as a child about this road racing experiences.
No technology back then but the same dedication and hard work as todays cyclists.
Some years ago I started delving into my family tree and discovered some wonderful slices of history in my Grandma’s loft.
One such piece of history came in the form of a tatty newspaper clipping that will make me proud for the rest of my life.
Not only was my Dad a keen cyclist but my Grandad was an Olympic Hopeful!!
So if it wasn’t for World War II my Grandad George Winslow could well have owned an Olympic Gold Medal xxx
